There’s a lot of paper options out there but don’t worry, we’re here to help.
Here’s a little breakdown on the types of paper out there, a cheat sheet if you will, on what type of paper might work best for your next project.
Glossy Paper Stock
Glossy paper stock choices can add some pop and pizazz to your brochure and make the colorful images really stand out. For brochures that are frequently handled a matte paper may be a better option because it will not show smudges or dirt as much. In-store, we usually have the typical text and cover stock weights on hand.
Matte Options
Matte is exactly what you are thinking, not as shiny and glossy but are flatter in appearance. While the matte paper isn’t as “flashy” as glossy paper, the ink dries quickly on its surface, which reduces the risk of smears and blemishes. The paper is also easier to write on if that is an important characteristic that you’re seeking. Like glossy paper options, we usually have the typical text and cover stock weights in-store as well.
Silk
Silk, the finish that is in between a gloss and matte finish, a slight sheen but not quite as reflective as gloss paper. A silk finish has become a very popular choice for posters, leaflets, flyers, and brochures. Unlike full-gloss paper, you can still write on this paper with a ballpoint pen if you needed to. At least at our shop, silk finish is rare and has to be special ordered. Don’t forget to call ahead if this paper is a must for your project.
Uncoated Paper
Uncoated paper keeps the traditional style of paper alive, it has a slightly rougher, more textured feeling than coated paper. Used for books, letterheads, envelopes, note-pads and a number of other paper products. No need to worry about having to special order this paper, we almost always have a nice variety of weights in store and ready for rush jobs.
Eco-Friendly
The greener version of the traditional paper that makes a smaller environmental impact and a small carbon footprint. Despite wanting to create less paper waste, sometimes the best way to get your message across still uses paper. There are varying recycled content percentages for eco-friendly paper. For a little higher price and some special ordering, we can help you find the best eco-friendly paper product so that you can keep your project as green as you’d like.
